The Global Week of Action Kicks Off in NYC, with XR, Sunrise, & Planet Over Profit (POP)...
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline, (EACOP), is a slow motion catastrophe. The world's longest heated oil pipeline tears through major population centers across Uganda and Tanzania, displaces 100,000+ farmers who face a future without adequate land, and threatens some of the worlds major inland freshwater ecosystems along the way. While protesters opposing EACOP in Uganda have been arbitrarily beaten and arrested, the pipeline's owners say they: "are unaware of any allegations..."
Chase, however, is well aware. It just doesn't care. While EACOP's human rights track record is so odious that major US banks have publicly distanced themselves from it, Chase has privately gone all in—quietly buying $1.5 Billion in bonds from the pipeline's owner: TotalEnergies. (No surprise given that JP Morgan Chase are also the largest sponsor of climate chaos).
On Friday, the bank's biggest shareholders come to our city. Make them aware.
