Climate & Ecological Emergency Campaign

To date, 38 countries have declared a climate emergency. It’s long overdue for the United States to join this list.

We are launching a Climate & Ecological Emergency Campaign to mobilize nationwide to compel the government to adopt an emergency response to climate change and ecological breakdown and make plans for a just transition. Sign up now to join our virtual actions, banner drops, and a coordinated protest.

Together with other Extinction Rebellion Northeast Regional chapters, we are inviting Extinction Rebellion groups and allies from across the country to come together for this pressure campaign focused on President Biden’s Climate Summit around Earth Day as well as Biden’s 100th day in office.

Under the National Emergencies Act, a climate emergency declaration would give Biden the power to sidestep partisan deadlock and take more sweeping executive actions to save our planet. If we are to have any chance of survival, we must start treating the climate and ecological crisis like the emergency it is.

Jump-start our campaign by sending a letter today to President Biden demanding an emergency declaration and swift action on our demands, including rapid mobilization on the scale of our response to World War II, a just transition that prioritizes funding for BIPOC communities, and a national climate assembly. The President has the authority to do so. Let’s demand he acts now!
